Ford's Fiesta has taken top spot in the new car sales chart for 2013, closely followed by its younger sibling the Focus.
A total of 113,417 models of the popular supermini were sold during the 12-month period, putting it way ahead of its rivals.
The Ford Focus attracted 81,791 new owners, while the Vauxhall Corsa - the Fiesta's arch enemy - racked up 77,861 sales to finish third.
Vauxhall put in another strong showing to claim fourth spot with 62,835 sales of its Astra, while fifth place went to the Volkswagen Golf, garnering 60,431 sales.
Overall, 2013 was a good year for the new car market. Sales were up by 10% compared to 2012 in the UK and the trend towards smaller cars has continued throughout the year, possibly due to the lower cost ofcar insurance on such models.
Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders suggest that new car sales nationwide will top 2.2 million.
Nissan's Qashqai crossover (47,695), BMW's 3 Series (40,065) and 1 series (39,204), the Volkswagen Polo (39,202) and the Peugeot 208 (36,303) made up the rest of the top 10.
