Crashed Audi ends up in family's hall

Ambulance officials say a family had a miracle escape when a car ended up in their hall after ploughing through their front door.

Two adults, a pair of children and their pet dog were inside the detached house in Coventry when the blue Audi S-line crashed into it shortly before 7pm on May 10.

The accident has left part of the staircase badly damaged and the house on Earlsdon Avenue South has a 3m hole where the front door once stood.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said the occupants had been "extremely" lucky not to have suffered any injuries in the incident.

The male driving the car was also uninjured but firefighters had to free a female passenger from the wreckage. She was taken to hospital after suffering injuries to her neck, leg and pelvis.

Wooden joists were used to help hold up the front of the house after staff from the West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service towed the blue car out of the building.
