Coveted award for RAC-owned Nebula Systems
A cloud-based diagnostic tool which enhances the repairs process for garage mechanics has landed a prestigious award for an RAC-owned company.

Nebula Systems, acquired by the motoring organisation in 2016, has been recognised for its ground-breaking MECH5 platform – scooping the TU-Automotive award for Best Aftermarket Telematics Product/Service.

The RAC has been able to harness the diagnostic capability at the core of the product and is currently integrating it into its own telematics units.

This is the second time the market-disrupting firm has featured at the awards, having been nominated for Best Newcomer just two years ago. As part of the RAC group of companies, the Buckinghamshire-based team has gone from strength-to-strength in the connected car industry.

MECH5 has impressed many in the motor repairs industry as a result of its cloud-based model and diagnostic potential – offering mechanics a degree of accessibility to the kind of tools not normally at the disposal of smaller repair centres.

Nebula Systems landed the gong at a ceremony in Detroit on June 6 after seeing off fierce competition from a raft of disruptive up-and-comers.

Success at the TU-Automotive awards is the gold standard for the connected car sector, judged as it is by influential experts.

In accepting the award, Roman Di Lullo, CEO of Nebula said: “We’re absolutely thrilled for MECH5 to be recognised by the industry in this way especially since it was only two years ago that we were nominated for newcomer of the year.

“We have some very exciting new services in the pipeline that have MECH5 at their core so we’re very much looking forward to launching them in the near future.”

RAC Connected Solutions MD Nick Walker added: “We are absolutely delighted for the Nebula founders that they have won this award. It reinforces the decision at RAC to invest in Nebula.

“But more importantly, it gives our Connected solution a further lead.”
