Bond car to go under the hammer

The Lotus car used in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me will be sold at auction next month.

The white 1976 Lotus Esprit, made famous by the 1977 film starring Roger Moore and Barbara Bach, is expected to raise between £100,000 and £120,000. Auction house Bonhams will sell the car as part of its annual motoring sale at Olympia, in west London.

The iconic motor, which turns into a submarine for the role, is one of two Lotus cars driven in the film by Bond and was recently voted the secret agent's best gadget.

The auction will also feature the registration number AU1 from the James Bond film Goldfinger. issued in Nottingham in 1903, is expected to sell for £80,000 or higher
