Biker does 103mph wheelie on A-road

Police have slammed a motorcyclist who was caught on film doing a 103mph wheelie on a main road.

Officers said 26-year-old Lukasz Wisniewski had shown "complete disregard for his safety and that of other people" when he did the wheelie on the A63 in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police, which has released footage of the film, said Wisniewski had admitted dangerous driving at Selby Magistrates' Court. He was given a community order including 200 hours of unpaid work, banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to take an extended driving test.

Inspector Dave Brown said: "Wisniewski should be thankful that he is still here to face a ban and community order. His riding showed complete disregard for his safety and that of other people.

"The consequences of such irresponsible riding could have seen him facing far more serious offences."

A mobile safety camera in a clearly visible van caught Wisniewski, of Firth Avenue, Leeds, on film as he rode near Selby on June 20, police said. He had been riding at 93mph when he began the wheelie manoeuvre and accelerated to 103mph before stopping.
