Babyshambles' Doherty back in court

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has been summonsed over an incident last year in which his manager left a man in a coma after hitting him while driving Doherty's car.

Doherty has been accused of allowing Andrew Boyd to use a Daimler - said to be Doherty's - without insurance at the time of the incident which left 42-year-old Chris Corder seriously injured and in a coma.

Doherty, 30, will appear before Lowestoft magistrates on February 24 in connection with the incident on the same day that Boyd, 42, of north London, who had previously admitted the charges brought against him, is sentenced for the offence.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said: "A 30-year-old man from Wiltshire has been summonsed to court to answer a charge of permitting the use of a vehicle without insurance following a road traffic collision on Sunday 27 September 2009 in Hadleigh."

The former Libertines member and one-time boyfriend of Kate Moss has been a regular feature in courtrooms across the country in recent years. He escaped with a £750 fine after "stupidly" walking into court with 13 wraps of heroin in his pocket earlier in the year and has been in and out of court for a variety of driving offences.
