I've got my driving test tomorrow, and my dad mentioned something yesterday that my instructor had never brought up. He asked if I am allowed to change gear when pulling out of a junction (e.g. going from first to second while turning), and I didn't know the answer. I assume it's fine? I just want to make sure before my test :)
Minors/majors on maneuvers?
-
I sometimes make mistakes with maneuvers (particularly parking), and I'm wondering what will get me failed. If I judge a bay park or parallel park wrongly and have to go out and do it again, will I get a minor/major? This is the only area I'm concerned about, and I want to know what mistakes here would get me failed.

Just do what your instructor has taught you to do, it might just be Pre Test Nerves that are worrying you?Just relax, and don't worry too much, you can only do your best, that's all there is to it, good luck.

All I can say is that if you are reversing into a bay, and have to pull forward to straighten up, that should not be a problem. A major would be if you hit, or looked as if you might hit, something. A minor might be if you ended up at an angle, or not between the lines.
Remember that for the most part, the people on this forum took their test a very long time ago when things were very different. Questions like this should really be addressed to your instructor. I failed my first test for not stopping at an unmarked junction. -
Well, you can ignore this thread now, I passed my test and I got my favourite maneuver, reversing round a corner. Thanks for the help though :)
