We wanted to give you peace of mind during the coronavirus pandemic that we’re here for you, wherever you are in the UK, whenever you need us.
While government advice differs depending where you live, we’re ready to come to your rescue. Whether you’re starting to drive more to get to work or to go for exercise or just relying on your car for essential journeys, we’re only a phone call away.
By strictly following government and public health advice we’ve developed new ways of working to keep both our customers and rescue teams safe. Since the lockdown came into force we’ve helped tens of thousands of customers at home and at the roadside.
What we’re doing:
-
All our patrols are following social distancing guidelines by keeping two metres away from customers at all times
-
They’re using latex protective gloves, hand sanitising gel and wipes to clean surfaces they touch in cars
-
We’re working hard to repair more vehicles than ever on the spot but if we can’t fix yours and it needs to be recovered or towed, we may not be able to take you in the cab due to social distancing
-
We’ll try to make alternative arrangements if we can’t take you with us, as your safety is always our priority. If we tow you home, we’ll arrange to get you to a garage when that’s next possible
-
If you have our Onward Travel cover, steps are in place to protect you:
-
All hire cars are cleaned thoroughly inside using a chemical sanitiser. Delivery and collection teams wear disposable gloves and they’ll always keep a safe distance from you, or not even have any contact at all. They won’t ask you for a signature
-
Taxis are being offered at customers’ discretion. While vehicles are cleaned thoroughly, social distancing may not always be possible
-
If you have symptoms or are self-isolating, we’ll only be able to attend in exceptional situations. Please call us back when your isolation is complete.
What to do if you break down
-
Call us on 0333 2000 999 as normal
-
When our patrol arrives, please keep a safe distance of at least two metres away
-
Please be understanding in these difficult times – we’re doing everything we can to keep customers and colleagues safe and keep our services running as usual
If you have European Breakdown Cover
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office website is advising against all but essential travel worldwide. For anyone currently in Europe our European breakdown service is operating with restrictions due to the steps other countries have taken. We’ll do our very best to help if you’re abroad and break down, but it may become very difficult or impossible to provide service in some countries.
