RAC Cars Need To Know:

Dubbed as Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti is a bit like what Lexus is to Toyota. It’s a relatively new name to the UK’s car industry, but in truth it’s been around since the late ‘80s and has been evident in many countries since then. The introduction to the UK’s market has been tough thanks to established brands selling cars left, right and centre, but after some clever marketing and the introduction of the Sebastian Vettel edition Infiniti FX, it seems the manufacturer is beginning to take some sales away from its rivals.

The Vettel co-sign does help, but it’s the company’s cars which are really helping to seal the deal for its customers. The quality of the build and materials has been well praised, along with the clever design and touches inside; it seems we like having an alternative to the de-facto standard Mercedes and BMWs

The Infiniti cars themselves are quite interesting and diverse. Infiniti offers the large, SUV-style Infiniti FX which offers a fair amount of style and technical ability along with an agreeable list price, and while it may lack the heritage of something like a Range Rover, it does look good on the road and should tempt consumers to swap allegiances.

If you want something a little more executive, there’s the Infiniti M56 and G37. Both of these cars are like your typical saloons which would go head-to-head with cars like the 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class. It really comes down to personal choice as to whether you try out an Infiniti, but seeing as they’re a new brand in the UK there’s a good chance prices will be coming down quite heavily to promote the company. Used car prices should represent a decent buy, so why not try your hand with one and be different?

Just don’t expect your neighbours or friends to have heard of the company. It may be a few years until Infiniti becomes a household name, but just think of the pride you’d feel by being known as an innovator in car buying when it does become a well-known company.

Sometimes, the grass is greener on the other side.
