RAC Cars Need To Know:

Chrysler may be famous for its MOPAR heritage in the US, but in the UK the brand is slightly less successful. Chrysler’s love for making big cars, like the RAM, is perfect for the wide roads of the US, but in the UK we’re less than fond of these types of vehicles. Sure, we like big cars – take the Range Rover, for instance – but most new and used Chrysler motor cars make our SUVs look like superminis.

As a result, the brand has never really sold in droves over here, but there are a few decent picks from the line-up we would be interested in. The Chrysler 300C is one of the company’s finest exports. For such a big, comfortable saloon car the price is, well, very reasonable. When the MK1 came to the UK, it was selling at around £30,000; that’s £30K for a fully-equip, BMW-rivalling saloon car.

The second car would be the Crossfire; a sporty, little Mercedes-Benz SLK-based car which, may not be technically capable of competing with its rivals, is still a decent buy on the second hand market, especially if you fancy something to look good in.

The used Chrysler PT Cruiser is a car which will split opinion, but if you want something bold and a little different then it’s the ideal candidate. Used versions sell for very reasonable prices these days and could well be a reliable motor that the whole family will enjoy driving in.

Other than that, Chryslers are typically American cars with plenty of space, leather and comfort. If you really do want to stand out from the crowd, then a used Chrysler should be up to the job.

If you fancy a slice of lunacy on your way to work, then the Chrysler Viper, which was made with Dodge in the US, is a V10 monster capable of destroying small planets and emptying your wallet in about five seconds. It’s ridiculously quick, a bit brash, but full of fun and personality. Few cars have the simplicity of the Viper, but it actually works as one of its charms, as you instantly fall in love with this car, even if you don’t like super cars.

It’s not a Ferrari, but it is bags more fun and considerably cheaper! Just make sure you can afford one!
