Dealer types explained

• RAC Approved Dealer

  This is a dealer who prepares all their vehicles to the RAC 82 point standard including a full history check. All vehicles come with a minimum of 3 months RAC warranty and 12 months complimentary RAC breakdown.

• RAC Warranty Dealer

  This is a dealer who provides a minimum of 3 months RAC warranty and 12 months complimentary RAC breakdown.

• Franchised Dealer

  This is a dealer holds a franchise from a car manufacturer and prepares new and used cars for sale to the franchise standards. Not an RAC Approved Dealer. Approved dealer benefits not included.

• Other Dealer

  Dealers who are not franchised or RAC Approved dealers. They may be privately owned or part of a group and may offer benefits such as warranty, breakdown and multi point checks. Not an RAC Approved Dealer. Approved dealer benefits not included.

• Private Seller

  You can now search for cars listed by private sellers. Look out for cars that have been RAC Checked, these sellers have purchased a Car Passport to show if the car ahs a clean history, or an RAC Vehicle Inspection so you know the car has been properly road-tested and is fit for sale.
