Van Breakdown Cover

Van Breakdown Cover is included as part of Business Breakdown Cover. It covers specific vehicles in your fleet, whether it’s your only van or part of a large fleet of vehicles. Any driver is covered for vans that are specified on your policy, so you can concentrate on your customers, whilst the RAC keeps your business on the road.

What level of Van Breakdown cover do you need?

Roadside and At Home

If we can't fix your van at roadside, we'll tow you up to 10 miles to your destination of choice. With Roadside and At Home cover, we'll also cover your van if it breaks down within a mile of your registered address.

 

Roadside, Recovery and At Home

As well as all of the above, adding recovery to your breakdown insurance means that if we can't fix your van at roadside, we'll take you and up to 7 passengers to your chosen destination anywhere in the UK.

Van-for-van replacement with Onward Travel

Unlike our competitors, RAC Van Breakdown offers van for van replacement when you select our Onward Travel option.

If your commercial van breaks down and we can’t fix it at the roadside, you can keep your business moving thanks to our Onward Travel. No more squeezing the contents of your van into a hatchback car. Van for van replacement means you’ll have the right vehicle to get back to work and onto your next job.

European Breakdown Cover

When you select European Cover, your vans will be covered in 51 countries plus their offshore islands across mainland Europe. If you break down, your vehicle will be fixed at the roadside, towed to the nearest garage for repair or returned to your home country. English-speaking incident managers are on call 24/7, and we’ll also help cover accommodation costs so you can continue with your journey.

  • Why do I need van breakdown cover?

  • Is any driver of the van covered?

    Yes. With van breakdown cover you cover the van itself, meaning any of your drivers are covered so long as the van is covered.

     

  • What cover levels are available?

    You can choose from RAC Business Roadside and At Home cover or RAC Business Roadside, Recovery and At Home which means that if we can't fix your vehicle by the roadside, we'll take you and up to 7 passengers to your destination of choice anywhere in the UK. You can also upgrade your cover with Onward Travel and European Cover.

     

  • What if you can't fix my van at roadside?

    If you choose Onward Travel with your Business Breakdown cover purchase, RAC will provide van-for-van replacement if we can't fix your vehicle at the roadside.

     

    If you don't have Onward Travel with your policy we will tow you to any garage of your choice nationwide (with Roadside, Recovery and At Home cover) or tow you to a garage within a maximum of 10 miles (with Roadside and At Home cover).

  • Am I covered in another van?

    With RAC Business Breakdown cover you cover the vehicles operated by your business rather than the drivers. Individual drivers are not necessarily covered in all of your business' vehicles, only the vans which are included on your policy.

     

  • What if my van is part of a fleet?

    Van breakdown cover covers specific vehicles in your fleet, whether it’s your only vehicle or part of a large fleet of vans or other business vehicles.

     

  • Are there any vehicle size or weight limits?

    Yes, the maximum dimensions of a vehicle considered for Van Breakdown cover is 2.3 metres in width by 3 metres in height, and the gross weight of the vehicle must be not more than 3.5 tonnes. 

  • How many times can I call out?

    With RAC Business Breakdown cover there is no limit to how many breakdown call outs you can make.

     

  • Van or car breakdown cover?

    At RAC Business we know that your fleet can contain both cars and vans, so our Business Breakdown cover has you covered in both. Simply select how many cars and vans you have, and specify the vehicle details when prompted.
