4.0 Motorists and the environment

Until the economic crisis, the environment was one of the key issues for motorists. The Government has been introducing higher taxes for the most polluting cars and the focus had been firmly on reducing CO2 emissions wherever possible. But now green issues are being left by the wayside.

Saving money and environmental driving are not mutually exclusive. Driving less and economical driving both reduce CO2 emissions. But will the environment come back into the spotlight over the next few years as the economy recovers or will motorists find other issues to focus on?
