Streets Ahead
- RAC Know-How
Streets Ahead has been developed with practising teachers to provide a complete set of tools for three to four exciting lessons based on the concept of sustainable transport and road safety in the school area and for school journeys. The pack helps deliver the geographical enquiry and skills required for Key Stage 3/P7-S2 and meets Ofsted criteria for differentiation, key words and multi-episode lessons.
In addition there are links to PSHE which encourage students to consider a healthier and safer lifestyle in relation to travel and their local environment. The resource also has a strong emphasis on the School Travel Plan.
The National Competition, which forms part of the unit of work, supports school travel planning and is informed by:
The Every Child Matters agenda: stay safe and make a positive contribution to society. The Scottish Executive’s National Priorities in Education: Values and Citizenship and Learning for Life.
