How long does it take to learn?

Driving is a skill that some people learn quicker than others. As an average, the Driving Standards Agency estimates it takes about 40 hours of lessons and a further 25 hours of additional practice. However as with all skills, different people learn at different paces.

A BSM instructor will tailor your lesson plan based on your progress - you may be ready to take your test quicker than first thought, or it may take a few extra lessons. Either way, you should learn at a speed that you feel comfortable with and only take your test when you feel ready.

How often should you have lessons?

It’s entirely up to you. BSM recommends at least one session of two hours per week (subject to availability). You should also improve your driving by having additional practice between lessons.
