Choosing a car and making it right for you
It’s important to choose the car that’s right for your own personal circumstances e.g. size, model type, price, fuel type, manual or automatic etc. Most importantly, ask yourself if it’s suitable and adaptable to your needs.
You may need to look at things like door widths, to allow room for getting a wheelchair into the vehicle. Plus, check the heights of sills on the boot or hatch, and of course the positioning of controls.
You should also make sure that the appropriate adaptations can be made. Many different types of adaptation are possible and, with new technology, more and more are becoming available. But making the wrong choice could be costly as well as being inconvenient.
