Thousands of bikers participated in the RAF Wings Appeal Easter Egg Run

More than 3,000 motorcyclists in the UK, many wearing fancy dress, joined a convoy that rode 25 miles to show support for the Royal Air Force.

They set off from Meole Brace Park and Ride in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, on the RAF Association's annual Easter Egg Run to raise funds for the Wings Appeal.

Supporters on bridges above the M54 along the route cheered them on as they headed to their destination at the RAF Museum in Cosford, Shropshire, to deliver Easter eggs to the families of RAF personnel and injured servicemen and women.

Funds that the bikers donate will go towards the RAF Association's Wings Appeal to provide help and support for former and present members of the RAF, including soldiers currently in Afghanistan.

Rachel Huxford, RAF Association's Director of Fundraising, said: "The people who serve in our armed forces really are heroes and it is for them that we do this every year.

"We also mustn't forget their families who are also heroes in our eyes because of the sacrifices that they make for their loved ones. We are delighted to be able to help all of them."
