The 50 Plus Life Insurance plan can give you added peace of mind that you've provided some extra financial support for your loved ones when you die. It's important you understand the details of the policy before you buy and to help we've provided a summary of some of the important facts.

Guaranteed full payout after the first year. If you died before this we'd pay you the amount paid into your policy

Premiums payable until your 90th Birthday. You could pay more than paid out on death

Your amount of cover is fixed when your plan starts, so because of inflation this means it will buy less in the future

Payment normally goes to your estate. Inheritance tax could also apply to the part that's worth over £325,000 (tax years 2012/2013 to 2014/2015)

50 Plus Life Insurance Questions
How much cover can I have?
It depends on your age, your sex and the level of premium you select. The maximum cover you can apply for is £25,000. If you have more than one 50 Plus plans, the maximum cover is for all your plans added together.
How much do I pay?
This depends on your age and the amount of cover you choose. The minimum premium is £5 a month, and the maximum is £100 (£50 if you apply online). If you have more than one 50 Plus plan, the maximum premium applies to all your plans added together.
Can I apply?
You can apply if you're:

permanently living in the UK and

between 50 and 80 years old
Can I increase my cover after my plans starts?
No, you can't increase your cover under this plan. However, you can take out more than one 50 Plus plan with us if you want to, as long as your total cover for all your 50 Plus plans isn't more than £25,000 and the total amount you pay in isn't more than £100 a month. Also to take out a new plan you'll still need to be aged 50-80 and be a UK resident.
