Claims Information


Who do I call if I've had an accident?

If you need to make a claim, please contact our 24hr claims number. Your claims number can be found in your policy documentation. They will take all the details from you and explain what will happen next.


Am I covered against uninsured drivers?

If you choose the RAC Comprehensive Insurance Plus package not only will you be covered if you are hit by an uninsured driver, but you will also have any excess that you may have paid refunded and your no-claims discount will not be affected.

You would need to provide details of the uninsured driver and not be at fault for the accident.

What happens if I have a car accident?

If you have a car accident you should let us know as soon as possible. Depending on the cover you have we will pay for damage to your vehicle (comprehensive only) and any third-party property as well as contributing towards medical treatment for injuries incurred by yourself (comprehensive only) or third parties.

Do I have to pay an excess if my windscreen is repaired?

No. We will not charge an excess if you use either our approved windscreen repair company or one of your own choosing. Your no-claims discount will also not be affected by this type of claim.

Am I covered on my car insurance if I leave my keys in the car?

No. You should take all reasonable steps to ensure that your car is locked and secure to prevent theft.  Failure to do so could invalidate any claim you have.

Do I get a courtesy car after I've made a claim?

If you have chosen RAC Comprehensive Car Insurance or Insurance Plus, you will receive a courtesy car in the event of a claim as long as you use one of our approved repairers.

Courtesy cars are subject to availability and the supplying garage's terms & conditions.  This cover is not available with Third Party, Fire and Theft or Third Party only cover.
