He will write out some paperwork and charge you with driving without insurance.

Talking of post code lotteries....!
Came across an accident - no-one hurt but car blocking road - during our island rally four weeks ago and called it in. Non-island pollis deal with it and take details including mine. Not having owt to fear handed over my photodriving license and he noted it down and asked for insurance papers. He spotted the differences in the address - basically typos. I explained I'd renewed; got the paperwork; spotted errors; rang insurers and they'd changed details whilst I was on the phone. New paperwork was to be sent out straight away but postal strikes - I'd not had it. But I am on the dvla website correctly as insured - checked it myself. He seemed fine. Hah! had our local pollis up here today saying I hadn't insured my vehicle. Thank heavens the correct paperwork had turned up in the middle of last week and I'd not shredded the wrong one coz I was able to prove what I'd said was true. I cannot repeat what our local pollis said about the mainlander (fortunately out of my Mum's hearing although I think the accent would have fooled her!) but I don't think it bodes well for the visiting copper! Unfortunately, this sort of thing happens almost everytime we have the pollis from the lower end, sorry, southern end, of Strathclyde police force up. So the post code lottery scenario is true! I did want to ask if it was this overseas officer who was driving their nice brand new 4x4 when they wrote it off, but decided against!! |

Talk to the officer when he sees you.At the side of the road you can plead gulity and take 6 points and a fine.If it goes to court it can be more points and a bigger fine.
It may be that he will allow you to take the 6points and fine now but im not sure as you are now not stopped at the side of the road. If not you can plead guilty by post. |

The seizure is at the time they stop you, forget it. Get the proof of no claims to the insurance company and hope they reinstate your insurance if not take it on the chin and learn from your mistake.
