    Default Is this fair?

My old Volvo 440 which is regularly serviced and maintained by a Volvo garage has just failed its MOT.

My last service was at the end of June, I have done less than a thousand miles since them.

My car failed the MOT on hand brake having no reserve travel and offside front brakes binding ..could these faults really have developed in such a short time/low milage since the service?

    Thank you for any replies

Somebody else can advise on the tech stuff....but you did say old 440 which hasn't been sold for quite a few years. Nevertheless, my local MOT test centre said - call the garage that did the service, tell them it failed, how few miles it had done and ask them to fix the problems and put it back through MOT. You might have to pay for one (problems) or the other (MOT) but you should get one without charge.

Thank you Dee the car is going in to have the problems fixed next week at the garage who did the service, (they also take it for the mot) and no I don't have to pay for another test, (there are two weeks remaining before the test is due so I have got the car) . I was just trying to find out if I am being taken for a ride by the garage and it the brake faults should have been picked up on the service, if anyone thinks I am I will contact the main office of the garage in another town and complain .
