    Default Renault Clio Misfiring

Hi, I'm new here, and I am in need of some help...
What spark plugs does a 2002 Clio 1.2 16V take?

She is spluterring at the moment on startup, it is an intermittent fault. It is especially noticeable just after starting.

    Cheers,

If the problem is still existant after changing the plugs, a Renault agent can re-programme the injection computer. 90% of clios suffer from this.

I changed the plugs. I put 4 of the recommended LZKAR7A plugs in, which were gapped correctly, but it is still misfiring.
The misfire is very noticeable when taking-off on an incline. It may be only firing on two cylinders - it sounds that bad. It seems ok across the flat.
It is still an intermittent fault.

    Cheers,

If it is misfiring it is most likely to be the ignition coils, clios and megane's are famous for it.

    Thanks for that,
I'll get the multimeter out and see if it can tell me anything. Although if its an intermittent fault would the ohm meter detect it?

    Exclamation renault clio parts

you need to buy the coil and hd leads this will stop the missfiring!!
they are around 60 from renault!
they tell u its spark plugs but its not.
as u cant change leads individually you need to buy the coil and leads as one unit!!

    hope this helps!!!

The Reno man laughed when I asked for H D leads, but the problems solved now once and for all. The car was a lot quicker on the way back from the garage.
    Thanks for the help guys.

another common fault if putting the HT leads on in the wrong order. Be careful when changing them.

I hope to have a guide soon on Clio Forum This is a blog with all the best bits from different clio owners clubs

    Exclamation renault clio...problem

hi, i broke down about a wk ago, and called for the aa and they couldnt really tell me wat the problem was apart from that he thought it was something to do with my oil because of the wreak coming from the exhaust...
i then took my car to the local garage and got an engine service, with the oil change!!! got my car bak on the friday afternoon!!
i went out in my car on the friday evening my car broke down again, samething that happened previously
wen i started my car it was like it had no power and was jitering about!!!
i called the aa and he managed to get my car running even though there was hardly any power, he followed me home and sort of gave me a report on wat he thought the problem was....
he wrote poor running, cutting out!! found missfire from engine possibly cause coil pack or inlet manifold...please check over catalyst as got very hot due to missfire!!!
due to this i was wondering is this a major problem or do these thing always occur?? how much roughly would it cost to get it sorted?
    thnx

Nikki did the AA patrol follow you home with a misfire then wrote on his report check Catalyst. I would report this back to AA as vehicle should not be driven with a misfire no matter how far.
If single coil fault then ur looking about 30-40 for coil. RAC patrols carry them on vans, but would advise ASAP after fix that u get the cat check.
If same coil as above then they about 60 come with HT leads
