    Default Confused

Having had previous post removed .
Please can the Admin staff explain why , checks at roadside include making sure the vehicle is taxed etc . If there is no vehicle there because of theft it cant be checked.
If somebody gets their car stolen it is a trumatic time ( i had an old car stolen 3 times ) , so i know the feeling.
But i cant believe any breakdown company would pay for a 100+ mile journey without a vehicle.
I wasnt trying to be funny , i was just putting things into perspective
    Thanks

The post was removed because it wasn't very constructive and could have been construed as a personal attack (against the T&Cs)

im with orange_van on this one. a breakdown company wont taxi ride one of their members without a stolen, vehicle, else we would have more call outs than ever if that got around plus doing that 365 days a year it certanly is not feasible for the rac bank balance

i disagree the main resone is if your car breaks down the rac come out repair
    get you to you desination
if you are taken sick the rac will help

so a stolen car is much the same but the costs are less people in this sitation need some support
    and quick advice

i have been in the rac for 14 years never broken down

i bit of support in a emergancy would have been usefull
    much less stress

have you ever had you car stolen
as a member i am not asking for blood

just advice from the control room or guidance on the web site

so question how maney cars break down due to poor maintance
we are all paying for poorley maintaned cars

so there should be minium stds before cover is given

or dicount given if the car meets a std

    best regards nick.t

you have to think of the cost, i mean rac wont be able to send a mechanic to every single member to test if their car is up to a required standard as its not cost effective and not feasible by any measures. as if the car meet sthe required standard we would have less members and less breakdowns which means less revenue.

whats saying you go to the pub on a friday night and save paying for a taxi you ring rac and say your vehicle as been stolen knowing you will get a recoveryhome, can you imagine how much cost would go into this without a vehicle being involved? there would be no room for profit going on that basis

    Default taxi

why do you think i would like a taxi for a stolen car

help an support is about giving advise over the phone
why would you need rac guy to come you

look at it this way you are rac member you need help or advice because your car has been stolen

again you dont have any figures to base you claim on it is only conjector

again how maney rac members had there car stollen to day

it might be a good poll to see the realitey of the situation

set up a poll and see it would be very intersting to base

so how would want to go about the poll

question did you have you care stolen today
or did you car not get stolen

i sure the results would be interesting

o and just on other thing if the drunk is trying to get a free rid home
he will be expected to quote a crime number with in 24 hrs
or expect to pay a very heafty premuin or be kicked out of the rac

that would be fair and why would want menbers like that dragging it down

same the goes for people that dont keep the cars well maintaned

why do other rac members have to pay towards people not mainting there cars properly

natownse has made a valid point. Never had my car stolen but have been in the company of many victims when recovering a stolen or vandalised car. The distress is obvious to see, lord knows what they were feeling when they first came across the sitation.
Perhaps it's a service that's worth looking into. Granted, motoring organisations without careful thought and checks in place could in future supply transport for the stranded victims.
Vandalised cars are not excluded for service under the RAC's T&C's, likewise stolen cars when found (subject to a crime number supplied) can be recovered (re-any applicable T&C's) so why not give consideration for such a service, even if there was an extra premium or tie in with the driver's insurance company?
As for a Help icon on the RAC home page, good idea. The answers (or home truths that there isn't a great deal anyone can do at that precise moment) may be obvious to any of us not in a panic. But I'll bet many of us would not be thinking so rationally in that situation.
As for members ringing into the RAC at this time, I imagine most, if not all the people taking the calls would show genuine compassion and try and ease the drivers anxiety. Making suggestions for alternative transport, ringing patrols in that area with local knowledge of train stations, police stations and the like.
