Mondeo Electric Boot Release
I have a problem with my '02 Mondeo hatch. The Mondeo boot release is operated by the key fob, the hatch switch, or a dash switch. For some months the boot has been releasing itself intermittently. I used to just get out and re-shut it, but now it opens constantly, whenever the car is unlocked. Standing next to the car I can hear the motor operating continuously, opening and closing the lock.
Initially I suspected the dash switch, so disconnected this. For a while this seemed to help, but the problem is back with a vengeance. If there is any connection between the occurrences, it seems to be worse in cold weather! I'm thinking either a key fob or sticking hatch switch. Does anyone have any direct experience of this, and a solution? Thanks.
Problem solved. Switch gets damp with pressure washing. Cold weather causes water to freeze, operates switch. Tried dying it out but still operates occasionally. New switch from Ford was £25.
