I do a weekly commute between Tunbridge Wells and Cambridge. It's not paying that hacks me off so much, it's rather that every Friday evening after a long week at work queuing for the toll adds an extra hour to my journey, just so the government can take £1:50 off me (a 1 hour wait just to pay £1:50 is out of all proportion - it's mad). I usually end up at the back end of the queue (shortly after the M11 junction) at 5:30pm-ish and finally get to the toll at 6:45-ish.
I'm wondering whether to carry straight on down the M11 and do Blackwall tunnel.
I've often done Blackwall Tunnel at other times of day for London City Airport but not through London on a Friday night.
What do others think - would it be even worse than queuing at the Dartford Toll or is it worth a shot?
