Hi I Work In Insurance, The Best Way To Go About This Is To Have Gone Directly To Your Insurers, They Will Have Handled The Claim The Best Way, As For The Write Off, Depending On The Catagory Of The Write Off You Will Be Able To Buy Back The Vehicle But Will Have To Provide The Insurance Company With A New Mot Certificate And Invoice / Receipt For The Repairs That Have Been Done Before They Will Declare The Vehicle As Being Roadworthy Again..
    Hope I've Helped
