    Default IN10 (when does conviction become spent)

    09/06/2008 1. road traffic act 1988 chg (s) 1sentence deferred to section 143 (1) & (2) 07/07/2008, fine
    220, licence endorsed

    When does this conviction become spent. the points have already come off my license

    The conviction Is spent once They are off your license but by my Maths they should still be on there most insurance company's ask for any convictions within the last 5 years so you will still have to declare them.

    The points will have gone after 3 years from the date of the offence, although they remain on the licence for a further year.

    The criminal conviction remains and does not become spent (i.e. you still have to declare it for most purposes) until five years from the date of conviction, where the sentence was a fine. Longer for imprisonment. See http://www.lawontheweb.co.uk/Road_Tr..._Offenders_Act
