nissan primera 2002 starting problems

turned key and engine sounded as if it was going to start then continued to turn over but no attempt to fire. Battery is good, it was replaced 12 months ago new starter waqs fitted 4 weeks ago, replaced the plugs, engine turns but does not even attempt to fire. anyony help please

When you switch the ignition on but do not turn the engine over, can you hear the fuel pump whine/buzz from under the back seat?

Hi thanks for reply, Yes can hear fuel pump. the trouble turned out to be engine flooded
