I bought a nearly used Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 - Petrol - Manual last December from a a Ford dealer. A month after I bought the car, I noticed that there is loud clunky noise when I change the gear from 1st to 2nd from cold start. Twice, I had the car checked by the garage at the dealer's place but both the times I was told it was due to ABS engaging and it is not a fault with the car. I don't get this noise when the car is on the road - only from a cold start or whenever I stop and start the engine.
I was told that this is a common issue with Ford Focus Zetec cars. Could someone please let me know if this issue is common? If not, what may be causing this issue?

Hi all,

Ive got a Silver Ford 2008 Studio 1.25 Manual Petrol 5dr Fiesta and its causing me some bother....

The problem occurs when I come to a stand still at traffic lights etc and my car is idling. The revs drop and raise and the car appears to be struggling to maintain a continuous idling speed. I can also feel the vibrations of the engine struggling though the pedals.

The revs drop well below 1000 (though it has not yet ever stalled on me) and continue to be erratic for a few seconds until it rights itself and I carry on with my journey, then when I pull up again at another set of lights, it does it again.

I took it back to Kwik Fit where I last had it serviced and they changed the spark plugs again to rule out any misfiring, unfortunately it wasn’t the spark plugs as the problem continues. The fluid levels appear to be fine and there is no engine warning light on the dash (so im hopeful it’s nothing too serious).

The car is still under warranty (apparently) but i dont think it will be valid anymore as i didnt have it serviced at the Ford Garage...

Its barely 2 years old and i cant beleive that im having problems with it already....any advice going?

Thanks so much xx

The problem is no dash lights when I turn the ignition, and engine doesn't turn over. Main headlights work but I get a funny beep tone when i turn on the headlight switch. Start solenoid doesn't click, all fuses and plugs in cluster are visualy fine. The car is a 94 1.1 petrol rover metro.

I'm sure I missing the obvious (oh, the battery is fine too), but I just can't think.

Cheers for any help.

I have noticed, when the engine is cold, it makes a squeeky tapping noise from the timing/fan belt area. This increases with revs, but once the car is warm, it seems to go.

Is this something to worry about or just one of those ford problems?

Hi,

I am hoping that there may be someone out there that can enlighten me with a problem that has developed with my 2000 Focus 1.8.

The problem I am experiencing is as follows,

Firstly when the engine is running at idle speed (approx 750 rpm) and the car is at a stand still I am experiencing a juddering sensation. It seems as if the engine is struggling to stop itself from stalling.

Secondly when the car is moving along and you depress the clutch or go into neutral when rolling up to a junction e.c.t. the engine will keep revving up to 2000 rpm until the car comes to a complete stand still then will drop down to 750 rpm and start juddering again.

Otherwise when you are in gear and driving along all appears to be fine.

I hope there is someone out there who can give me clue.

Thanks. :)

I have a Mondeo 2ltr TDCi estate (54 plate). I am getting a REALLY irritating noise coming from the heater/aircon unit. When it is on (all temps and speeds), there is a high pitched 'warble' noise eminating from the unit. The pitch increases and decreases when I accelerate or brake. The only way to silence it is to turn the unit off.
It's one of those noises like a dripping tap in the middle of the night. I drive a lot of miles and it's driving me NUTS!!!
Any help or suggestions gratefully received.
