Work disrupts drivers in Hartlepool

A scheme to improve a roundabout in Hartlepool will cause temporary road closures and diversions in the town over the next few weekends.

Work began in October on Burn Valley roundabout off York Road and Stockton Road, and it will be closed on November 11 and 18 from about 6am until 8pm.

The £275,000 project, funded by government money via the Tees Valley Bus Network Improvement Fund and Hartlepool Council's Local Transport Plan, is part of a continuing programme to improve the bus network across the town.

"As part of the work, we will need to close the roundabout entirely while we lay the new carriageway in the area around it," said Brendon Colarossi, senior projects officer in Hartlepool Council's highways section.

"We apologise for any inconvenience which this may cause - to reduce the disruption to drivers, we have scheduled the closures for Sundays, when the roads are quieter."

Signposted diversions will be in place but if you're travelling in Hartlepool on the next two Sundays it is advised that youplan your journey with the closure in mind.
