Car insurance will increase for a couple from Kent who are at the centre of a speeding row with police.
Kent Police sent a letter to Roy Watkins after a car registered in his name was caught by a speed camera driving at 52mph on a 40mph road.
When he filled in the form and said it was his wife Pauline who was driving the car, he received a reply saying the picture showed a man was behind the wheel.
Mr Watkins, 65, said: "Pauline is very upset about it. It was very insulting for them to say only a man could have been driving.
"She was happy to admit it was her fault and pay the £60 fine but we're both absolutely furious and disgusted by the police's attitude. We want compensation."
A spokeswoman for the force said: "Kent Police handles about 40,000 allegations of speeding each year and a misunderstanding of this nature is very unusual. As a result, we will review our procedures to ensure this doesn't happen again.
"In the meantime Kent Police has been in touch with the couple and is working with them to try and resolve this matter."
