A Welsh international rugby star who took a golf buggy on to a motorway after drinking has been banned from driving.
Andy Powell will not be allowed behind the wheel for 15 months after pleading guilty at Cardiff Magistrates' Court to driving a golf buggy while unfit through drink.
The 28-year-old was arrested at a service station on the M4 after police caught him driving down the hard shoulder following Wales' Six Nations victory over Scotland.
He and another man were taken into custody in the early hours of February 14 near the Wales team hotel in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Officials dropped Powell from the Welsh national team following heavy media coverage of the buggy incident.
His lawyer Conrad Gadd told the court: "He is regretful that any young boy who may see him as a hero might think this behaviour is acceptable and he wants to make it plain that it isn't."
Powell was also fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victims surcharge.
