Mazda has launched a special website to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its popular MX-5 sports car.
The site acts as a tribute to the roadster, offering insight into both its past and its future. There are messages and interviews from the engineers behind the development as well as pictures and facts.
The original MX-5 was unveiled to the world in February 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. Its early design was said to be inspired by the stylish roadsters of the 1960s and 1970s and the manufacturer was keen to make the car nimble, lightweight and fun.
But the MX-5 also always boasted the latest engineering and reliability, and all at an affordable price.
The car, which is now in its third incarnation has won more than 200 awards to date from around the world including Car of the Year Japan 2005-2006. It is also the current Guinness World Record holder for best-selling two-seater sports car, with 920,000 sold worldwide as of December.
