Volkswagen is unveiling a brand new small SUV at the 27th International S‹o Paulo Motor Show in Brazil this week.
The German car giant is revealing its plans for the new Taigun, which is smaller than the Polo supermini at 3.86 metres long and 1.73 metres wide. The company intends to assess the public reaction to the car before deciding whether to go ahead with production.
The new model could be launched in late 2014 if the reaction is good and it would have the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder 108bhp turbocharged petrol engine as the Up and be based on the manufacturer's Small Family platform.
The Taigun, which is similar in style to the Tiguan and Touareg, will have the added attraction of a central infotainment system that is capable of linking up with most smartphones to offer drivers an intuitive interface.
