Volkswagen has finally broken silence on prices and specifications for its new Touareg.
The luxury SUV, which is due hit showrooms at the end of August, has been kept under wraps for quite some time, much to the frustration of drivers who are eagerly anticipating its arrival after the success of previous models.
There will be two engine choices available - a 3.0-litre V6 TDI with 204 PS and a 3.0-litre V6 TDI with 262 PS - both of which are compliant with Euro 6 emissions legislation thanks to the introduction of a Selective Catalytic Reduction system, low-rolling resistance tyres and a coasting function on the standard eight-speed automatic gearbox.
New bumpers and grilles give the revised Touareg extra presence on the road, while new alloy wheel designs, new colours and bi-xenon headlights complete the fresh look that is guaranteed to turn heads.
An automatic post-collision braking system now comes as standard across the range, with three trim levels on offer to buyers.
Prices start from £43,000 for the SE model, rising to £47,500 for the top-of-the-range R-Line. The Escape model, which features an advanced 4XMOTION off-road four-wheel drive system, is sandwiched between them.
