Security-conscious drivers would be wise to choose Volkswagen vehicles according to the organisers of the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards.
The German firm won several category titles, as well as landing the accolade of overall Manufacturer of the Year for the third year in a row, in the awards presented by Thatcham.
The Sharan, Beetle and Phaeton models triumphed in the Large MPV, Small Family Car and Best Luxury Car categories respectively, with the Phaeton winning its fifth award in its category since the awards began nine years ago.
The overall manufacturer award recognises the car maker with the most models that meet the selection criteria set by the creators of the New Vehicle Security Ratings scheme.
The models shortlisted for the top rankings all had to have been given five stars in the 'theft from' category and feature both double locking and an 'E'car insurance suffix, meaning they exceed required standards.
