Vintage Royal Mail van up for grabs

Vintage car lovers can pick up a piece of postal history at an auction later this month, when a restored Royal Mail Morris Minor goes on sale for charity.

The bright red vehicle, originally manufactured in 1970 and restored by four Royal Mail employees in 1992, will be auctioned to raise cash for children's charity Barnardo's.

Residents of the Isle of Wight will recognise the van from numerous local festivals, fetes and displays over the past 18 years. It also made regular appearances at the Goodwood Festival in Sussex.

British Car Auctions will put the historic vehicle under the hammer on September 13, so prospective owners have plenty of time to pick up acar insurance quote.

PR manager Tim Naylor said: "This Royal Mail Morris Minor van will strike a chord with anyone who remembers Royal Mail deliveries in the sixties and seventies. It has been beautifully restored by Royal Mail mechanics based at the workshop on the Isle of Wight."
