The British car manufacturer has introduced the Vauxhall Countdown, which offers discounts on many models in a challenge to the 2.5% hike in VAT from January 4 next year.
Under the scheme - valid between December 27, 2010, and January 31, 2011 - users can get a 20% rebate on the list price, before options, on several Vauxhall models.
Vauxhall Astra 1.4 (100PS) Exclusiv, for example, will save the consumer more than £3,190 (the-road price basis), while the Agila range offers discounts starting from £1,890. The firm's Corsa models are available at reduced prices of up to £3,400.
Peter Hope, Vauxhall's marketing director, said: "We're committed to reducing the pain of the latest VAT rise as much as possible.
"Vauxhall Countdown is a no-nonsense 20 % discount that applies across almost all models in our range. It has instant appeal for all our customers and makes ownership of some of our latest, award-winning cars even more attractive than before."
