Vauxhall has added to its hugely-popular Insignia range by unveiling a tarmac-tramping new Sports Tourer which aims to deliver better performance and increased practicality.
Built around the same wheelbase as the existing Tourer, space is the key for the new Sports Tourer which now has 540 litres of space, rising to 1,530 litres with the rear bench folded.
However, despite the increase in space, the vehicle retains the handsome looks of the saloon, with wraparound tail-lights and a neatly integrated tailgate.
As an added bonus, Vauxhall has also unveiled a new engine to coincide with the launch of the Sports Tourer.
The sixth engine in the Insignia range is a new blistering 178bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol offering. Available on all front-wheel drive models, the engine offers outrageous performance but with lower C02 emissions and better economy.
The Insignia Sports Tourer goes on sale in April, with prices expected to start at £17,865 for the 1.8i Exclusive.
