Gales and heavy rain have resulted in hundreds of people being evacuated from their homes, as the Prime Minister pledged that efforts would be made to help those affected.
David Cameron made the announcement as the Environment Agency reported that over 800 properties had been waterlogged, with thousands of drivers saved from flooded roads.
A woman died when she was hit by a tree as severe gales blighted the south of England, taking the total number of deaths caused by recent bad weather to two.
Weather experts also predict there will be continued rain with 60mph winds, and warn that the extreme conditions could cause further deaths.
Most of the country is expected to receive approximately 15mm of rain, with 30mm in some areas of the West Country, while owners of flooded homes are forced to wait longer to return to normality.
Mr Cameron tweeted: "Shocking scenes of flooding in Cornwall and around the country.
"Govt will help ensure everything is being done to help."
