Car production in the UK went up by 7.5% last month compared with the same period of 2010, according to the latest figures.
Research published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that 136,051 cars were made in the country over the course of September.
Drivers hoping to purchase one of the newly manufactured vehicles will need to ensure they havecar insurance in place before hitting the road.
In addition to these findings, the SMMT revealed that commercial vehicle production increased by 6.2% in September, hitting a total of 12,046.
SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: "The September 2011 production increases confirm a positive trend we expect to continue into 2012.
"Major new investment by vehicle manufacturers is opening up opportunities for UK-based suppliers, helping to drive the economic recovery and private sector investment."
