As many as 270,000 Toyota vehicles sold globally have faulty engines, which could stall while the vehicles are moving, the Japanese carmaker has said.
The vehicles involved include luxury Lexus sedans and Crown models. Out of the total number of vehicles with faulty engines, some 180,000 were sold overseas and the rest in Japan.
However, the firm added that so far there have been no reports of accidents linked to the faulty engines.
Although the world's biggest car manufacturer has not officially announced that it would recall the vehicles, it is reported that Toyota may recall tens of thousands of Lexus LS460 models.
The latest quality lapse comes after the carmaker was forced to recall more than 8.5 million vehicles worldwide due to a number of safety problems.
