Toyota has announced the sale of its 100,000th hybrid in Britain, around 14 years after the first model was launched.
UK sales of these vehicles began in October 2000, with the firm using the British International Motor Show to reveal details of the Prius to drivers.
The car maker said an Auris Hybrid Touring Sports model is the 100,000th car to be sold in the UK market.
Built at the Toyota Manufacturing Burnaston plant near Derby in England, the model comes with Excel trim and its hybrid system is said to include a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine.
Auris and Auris Touring Sports models continue to be built by the firm's UK workforce, with Toyota claiming that hybrid technologies remain "at the heart" of its British investment.
Six different hybrid models are currently available from the firm, including compact super-minis and family hatchbacks.
