Thousands head to caravan show

Tens of thousands of caravan enthusiasts have flocked to the opening day of the International Caravan and Motorhome Show 2010 with P&O Ferries at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

The convention, which began at 10am on October 12, was opened by BBC wildlife expert Simon King.

Over the course of the show, 250 exhibitors displayed their latest leisure touring offerings. There was also a variety of attractions such as a live cookery theatre, farmer's market and real ale bar.

Show director Sam North expressed his delight at the enthusiastic response on the opening day, with improved sales on 2009 as buyers looked to beat January's VAT hike.

He said: "There are some very exciting new products at the show and with excellent deals available there is no better place to grab a bargain motorhome or caravan."
