Buying a car can be daunting. Beyond a simple tyre check and a glance under the bonnet, there’s little an ordinary driver can do to check that the car on sale is as healthy as it appears.
Whether you’re buying privately or through a dealer, a professional vehicle inspection will ensure that the car you buy is everything it’s advertised to be, it’s roadworthy, and won’t cause you unexpected problems in the future.
For as little as £99 you can book a detailed Vehicle Inspection with the RAC, and it will be carried out within 48 hours.
A trained RAC Inspector will carry out the Vehicle Inspection, including a full road test, so they can assess the whole driving experience^. You’ll also have the option to add a diagnostic test to look for any hidden issues with the onboard computer, or electrical faults, giving you more insight than ever. Finally, you’ll receive a full report listing all the findings of the inspection, which can be used to help negotiate the right price for the car if you decide to buy.
In addition, photographs are included in the Advanced Inspection, and customers can add on an RAC Car Passport data check for £9.99.
Lynn Hayzelden, the RAC’s Head of Retail and Motoring services, said: “We don’t just inspect cars for people buying privately, customers can also book an inspection to be carried out at a car dealership if they want added peace of mind before they buy.”
“And inspections aren’t just for the risk-averse, they can also save you money and hassle. For example, if someone lives in London and is interested in a car in Edinburgh they can send an RAC inspector to look at the vehicle instead of travelling all the way to Scotland and back. This can save time and money in the search for the right car.”
