Actor Elijah Wood surprised a Swansea dealership when he popped in to rent a Mitsubishi ASX while making a film about Dylan Thomas in the city, it has emerged.
The Hollywood actor rented the car for three-and-a-half weeks while filming Set Fire To The Stars, clocking up more than 2,500 miles.
Celtic Mitsubishi, based in Victoria Road, Gorseinon, offered the ASX to the 33-year-old after managing director Phil Reason spoke to Mal Pope, director of YJB Films, a Swansea-based company which produced the film.
Tim Moorhouse, sales executive at Celtic Mitsubishi, who met Elijah on set outside Swansea Guildhall, said: "It was great to be able to meet him and he was very easy-going and really friendly. We spent quite a bit of time chatting away and he signed some things for me.
"He said he had enjoyed his time in South Wales, even though it didn't stop raining the whole time he was here, and he really liked the car. He's coming back for the premiere so hopefully we will lend him a car again then."
Mr Moorhouse also met Celyn Jones, who plays Dylan Thomas in the film, and several other actors.
Set Fire to the Stars is being shot to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Swansea poet Thomas. Mr Wood, best known for his role in The Lord of the Rings, plays John Malcolm Brinnin, Thomas' agent.
