Major bridges might be closed in parts of Scotland and some coastlines could get flooded because of strong wind throughout the day and evening.
Forecasters say the wind might reach as fast as 90mph in places, so it seems foolish to set out without anybreakdown cover.
Travelling will likely be disrupted by the bad weather, which is expected to last from between 9am and midnight.
The worst storms are due in western, central and southern Scotland.
Transport bosses admitted that disruption is likely despitenetworks being quiet because young people are off school and many workers have days off.
Keith Brown, the Scottish Government's transport minister, said: "High winds can make travel more hazardous and it is important that people are aware of the conditions on the roads and any consequent delays or disruption so they can plan their journeys accordingly."
