Sir Jackie Stewart has denied reports claiming he was at the wheel of a supercar when it crashed during a test drive near Aberdeen.
The repair bill to the Pagani Zonda S has been put at more than £300,000 following the smash, which happened when it lost control on a narrow country road, struck a telegraph pole and went through a fence.
The £528,000 car has been sent for repair to Modena in Italy, where the vehicles are made. The former Formula 1 world champion was named as the driver of the car in a newspaper report but his private secretary Oliver Anderson said Sir Jackie was not involved.
Mr Anderson said: "He was not in the country. He was not there. He would have been in Switzerland."
