Car production has made a steady start to 2014.
Last month, 128,620 cars were produced in the UK - down 0.3% on January 2013's total, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Mike Hawes, the SMMT's CEO, said: "There has been a solid start to 2014, matching the strength of January last year. We expect domestic car output to accelerate throughout 2014 as new model introductions reach full volume."
He added that further growth is anticipated following investments by some of the bigger automotive brands, leading to more jobs and huge opportunities for UK-based suppliers.
There were 25,239 cars made for the home market last month - down 6.2% on January 2013.
However, cars made for export went up 1.2% in January 2014, up to 103,381.
