Sony has teamed up with TomTom to issue a new range of advanced navigation devices for cars.
The Xplod AV Navigation Systems feature TomTom's live services including HD traffic for monitoring of traffic using multiple sources, weather updates and local business address searches through Google.
Motorists can also share maps with other users through the Map Share software, while the integrated IQ Routes programme calculates the journey time for a given route using real-time data including traffic lights, rush hour and even shopping crowds.
Giles Shrimpton, managing director of TomTom Automotive, said: "We are delighted that Sony has selected TomTom as their navigation services supplier in Europe. Combining the audio and video know-how of Sony with our navigational expertise has resulted in an excellent product range."
Moreover, as the technology incorporates a flexible hardware design based on standard interfaces, it allows for easy updates in the future - a huge advantage in the automotive industry."
